An independent high-speed internet service provider (ISP) is celebrating after seeing its customer base soar from just a few dozen to more than 1,000 over the past five years.
Founded by Ben King, WarwickNet, based in Coventry, has become one of only five ISPs across the country to be deploying Physical Infrastructure Access (PIA) commercially, allowing them to build their own infrastructure faster and more efficiently, without seeking permission from BT’s Openreach.
This has boosted their appeal and importance to firms based in business parks and industrial estates across the Midlands, especially those in hard-to-reach areas which
have seen their costs cut, profits grow and customer service improved as a result of access to high-speed broadband.
Since 2011, WarwickNet has transformed its customer base from 36 businesses more than 1,000, while during the same time it has gone from eight live sites in the West Midlands to connecting over 100 across the Midlands, Surrey and Berkshire. To ensure the business continues to provide high quality service during this time of impressive expansion, WarwickNet’s numbers have also grown considerably from just four employees to 21.
Turning over £3.4 million in the last financial year, King believes the business will continue to grow apace and lead the way in the industry, particularly in its work with Openreach and PIA.
He said: “We have worked successfully with BT for a considerable amount of time. Having access to Openreach’s ducts and poles has allowed us to deploy our own fibre networks across poorly-connected business parks on a much faster timescale and this has seen companies connected in a fraction of the time it would have taken otherwise.
“The past five years has seen significant growth for WarwickNet. We have invested in experienced, knowledgeable people and, in turn, the service we provide has continued to help struggling firms around the country. We have ambitious plans going forward and believe we are uniquely placed to grow rapidly in the business connectivity solutions arena.”
WarwickNet offers clients access to a range of high-speed connectivity solutions, including high-capacity leased lines, business grade broadband and Premium Internet Access by deploying PIA, vectoring as well as fibre-to-the-cabinet (FTTC) and fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) technology.
